Fire Seal Intumescent properties:

Is the expansion ratio sufficient for the intended installation?

BS476 Part 22 fire tests assume a gap of no more than 3mm between the door and frame assembly. An intumescent seal that cannot cope with the actual gap will not provide proper protection.

Need to match the decor ?

As well as meeting the technical requirements the fire seal may also need to blend into the background and the range of colour and finishes available become an important consideration.

Structural strength and fitting:

Will the seal have to resist attempted vandalism, so it needs to be securely pinned into place ?

Or is the installation environment more controlled and better suited to a quick fit self-adhesive backed seal ?

In high traffic areas wear and tear issues arise and overall maintenance costs can be reduced by fitting a replaceable blade type seal.

Approval Standards:

Does the fire seal meet the required standard(s) for the installation and have the appropriate Type Approval(s) ?

Avoid expensive and potentially dangerous mistakes by getting the right product installed first ime round.
